The Eels raced out to a 12-0 lead after only five minutes, however the Panthers fought back with an equal flurry, firstly through Luke Rooney and then through Joe Galuvao to have it locked up at 12-all after 13 minutes.
Whilst Parramatta soon after regained the lead, a try to Rhys Wesser which was converted by Preston Campbell ensured that the visitors held an 18-14 lead at half time.
In a see sawing battle, the Eels regained the advantage early in the second half to lead 20-18.
But the Panthers took the lead again on the 55 minute mark when Campbell stepped his way through the Eels defence from a scrum 20 metres out to touch down, and converting his own try to make it 24-20.
A try to Tony Puletua and a penalty conversion from Campbell pushed it out to a 10 point lead with 5 minutes remaining, and secured a hard fought win over their western Sydney rivals.
