Inside the first three minutes Waqa Blake cut back inside and sliced through the line to post the first points for the afternoon. A penalty conversion to Nathan Cleary pushed it out to an 8-0 lead just before the 12 minute mark.
The home team struck back with an unconverted try to make it 8-4.
Cleary started and finished the next Penrith try, when he threw a cut out pass to Blake, who streaked down the right flank before throwing just as well timed as pass back to Cleary, who planted it adjacent to the uprights.
Whilst Canberra once again countered with another try, the Panthers had the final say in the first half when Josh Mansour powered his way over after spotting a small gap about 10 minutes out, and holding a 20-10 lead at the break.
Two tries to the Raiders inside the first 15 minutes saw them hold their noses in front at 22-20.
However, with eight minutes remaining the Panthers would regain the lead when Tyrone May ran the ball from dummy half and was able to put an outstretched arm out whilst being held up by a number of Canberra defenders.
Penrith were then able to successfully defend their four point lead in the final minutes to post their seventh straight victory.
