Parramatta junior who was part of the Panthers first ever semi finals team when the Under 23s made the top 5 in 1973.

West would debut in the opening round of the 1974 season. In only his sixth match, he would score a then club record 4 tries in Penrith’s 28-13 win over Balmain at Penrith Park. He would start in all 22 matches that season in the centres and finish the club’s top try scorer with 14.

He would continue to be a mainstay in the Panthers backline throughout the mid-1970s, but injuries would restrict him to just another 41 matches from 1975 to 1977.

He left the Panthers at the end of 1977 to join the Eels, where he would play 21 matches across two seasons.

He would return to the Panthers in 1980, but would only play two matches in 1981 before retiring.
