A converted try to Tim Grant gave the home team a 6-0 lead after 9 minutes.

Whilst the Bulldogs reduced it to a 6-4 lead after the half hour mark, two tries to Michael Gordon (as well as converted by him) in the last 5 minutes propelled the Panthers to an 18-4 lead at half time.

A converted try seven minutes after the resumption to Shane Elford further pushed the home team’s lead to 24-4.

Canterbury were next to score, however with 12 minutes remaining Penrith secured the two premiership points when Gordon bagged a hat-trick when he supported a Michael Jennings line break off an errant pass and took an inside pass. The Bulldogs posted a consolation try with five minutes remaining, and Luke Walsh finished the scoring for the contest with a late field goal.
