St. Dominic’s junior who made his first-grade debut for the Panthers in the opening round of the 1984 season in the front row. He played 17 matches in his first season.
After not making an appearance in 1985, he made 20 across the 1986 and 1987 seasons before being signed by the new expansion club Gold Coast-Tweed Giants for the 1988 season. He played two seasons at the Giants, returning to Penrith in 1990.
In his second stint at the Panthers, he made 21 appearances that year, including coming off the bench in their maiden grand final appearance. His second stint would finish the following year, playing 7 matches and being a non-playing replacement in the grand final.
Vitanza would head to Cronulla in 1992, playing one first grade match before retiring at season’s end.
