Tough tackling centre who had made his first-grade debut for Parramatta in 1966 before being recruited by the Panthers upon their promotion to the first division for the 1967 season.
He was named at centre in their first premiership match against Canterbury. Gillon played 21 matches in the Panthers inaugural season in the first division and was awarded the player of the year award.
Gillon would continue to provide good service to the club in their formative years, finishing up at the end of the 1970 season.
