Saturday 18th June at Moreton Daily Stadium
Penrith 40 – Tries: To’o (2), Edwards (1), Leota (1), Martin (1), May (1), Yeo (1); Goals: Cleary (5), S. Crichton (1) | New Zealand Warriors 6
Penrith scored the first try in the 15th minute when Moses Leota ran off an Apisai Koroisau pass through a yawning defensive gap close to the Warriors try line.
An inside pass from Nathan Cleary straight off the scrum found Dylan Edwards who ran 30 metres untouched to touch down adjacent to the left upright.
With just over a minute remaining in he half, Taylan May was able to rather acrobatically overpower the Warriors covering defence to plant the ball just inside the touch in goal line. Cleary’s sideline conversion gave the visitors a 18-0 lead at the break.
Six minutes after the resumption, the Panthers extended their lead when a shift of the ball to the right edge created a two man overlap on the edge, with Stephen Crichton selflessly passing the ball to Brian To’o to touch down in the corner.
Two tries in four minutes – the first to Isaah Yeo when he burst through the middle to run 30 metres, and then to Liam Martin where he powered his way though from close range had blown the score out to 34-0.
The Warriors finally posted their first points with less than five minutes remaining, however the Panthers would be the last to score when To’o bagged a double.
