Fullback Shayne Stead scored the first points with a conversion in the sixth minute to lead 2-0.

With three minutes remaining in the half, Stead hoisted up a high bomb from about 10 metres out and landed in the in goal between the uprights, with winger Andrew Simons grounding it to claim the try, with Stead’s conversion making it 8-0.

Just before half time, the Raiders pulled it back to 8-6 with a converted try.

A Stead penalty conversion in the 57th minute made it 10-6.

Six minutes later, Peter Kelly took a hit up 10 metres out, and after bouncing off one Canberra defender, spotted a gap to the left and ran straight, evading multiple tacklers to touch down adjacent to the right upright, with Stead’s fourth conversion giving the home team a 10 point lead, and ultimately a 10 point win.
