Penrith scored the first try when Luke Lewis ran the ball only metres out and crashed through the Tigers defence after 5 minutes, with Michael Gordon’s conversion making it 6-0.

Three minutes later, Lewis set up the next Panthers try when he placed a well timed kick for Jarrod Sammut to snatch mid-air and touch down.

The Tigers were next to score, with a converted try making it 12-6 after 14 minutes.

On the 20 minute mark, a Gordon penalty conversion made it an eight point buffer, but was soon 14-12 through a converted try.

In the 28th minute, a team effort that spanned 70 metres was finished off by Michael Jennings, and was backed up by yet another long range effort with three minutes remaining in the half when Trent Waterhouse broke the line and ran 50 metres before offloading to Jennings to cross for his second try. Gordon converted to give the home team a 22-12 lead at half time.

The visitors however scored the first two tries of the second half and it was 22-all after 63 minutes.

A penalty conversion from Gordon with 10 minutes remaining gave Penrith a two point lead.

The Panthers then finished off the contest with three tries in the last eight minutes – Frank Pritchard backed up in support from a Jennings bust and scored, and was followed by tries to Wade Graham and Lachlan Coote to record a 16 point win.
