Manly scored the opening try in the 25th minute to lead 4-0.
A Brad Izzard try in the 35th minute, which was converted by Greg Alexander was soon followed up by a penalty conversion from Alexander which saw the home team lead 10-4 at half time.
A second try to Izzard 10 minutes after the resumption saw the home team lead 14-4.
Manly pulled it back to just a four point margin heading into the final quarter of the contest.
A penalty conversion from Alexander with only two minutes remaining gave Penrith a six point buffer, and on the stoke of full time a converted try to forward Peter Burgmann gave Penrith a 12 point victory.
