Glen Nissen scored under the black dot to open the scoring after some lead up work from Brad Fittler, with Andrew Leeds’ conversion making it 6-0.

Whilst the Roosters countered with their own converted try to make it 6-all, a penalty conversion off the boot of Leeds gave Penrith an 8-6 lead.

Easts struck back again with an unconverted try to make it 10-8 but were soon down to 12 players through a send-off for foul play, with Leeds landing the penalty conversion to make it 10-all heading into half time.

Penrith took the lead when Brett Boyd barged over from dummy half adjacent to the right upright, with Leeds adding the extras to make it 16-10.

In a tight contest, Brad Fittler gave the Panthers a vital seven point cushion when he nailed a field goal from 20 metres out.

The Panthers iced the contest late when John Cartwright deftly stabbed a grubber kick only metres out behind the Roosters defensive line and Col Van Der Voort winning the race to the ball to ground it behind the try line. Leeds nailed the sideline conversion to make it 23-16.
