Whilst Penrith scored first through a penalty conversion off the boot of Shayne Stead, Easts soon after led 4-2 through an unconverted try.

A try to Greg Alexander, whilst unconverted, win seven minutes remaining in the half gave the home team a 6-4 lead at the half time break.

Five minutes after the resumption, a second try to Alexander, this time converted by Stead to further extend the lead to 12-4.

Two more tries – to Steve Carter in the 58th minute and to Alan McIndoe in the dying minutes completed an 18-0 run over the Roosters in the second half, and cemented a commanding 20 point victory.
