A converted try to forward Gary Howell in the opening five minutes gave the home team a 6-0 lead.

Both teams then traded penalty conversions before Ben Gonzales touched town in the 26th minute to make it 12-2.

Parramatta reduced the lead with a penalty conversion and then unconverted try to make it 12-8 at half time.

The Eels then took the lead early in the second half, but a penalty conversion off the boot of Greg Alexander locked it up at 14-all after 50 minutes.

The visitors once again pulled ahead with a penalty conversion to lead 16-14.

A second try to Howell with 10 minutes left saw the lead change again to the benefit of the Panthers, and five minutes later, Penrith secured the two premiership points with a converted try to Alexander.
