Nyngan junior who made his first grade debut in Round 14 of the 1981 season, starting on the wing versus North Sydney at North Sydney Oval. In total, he made nine appearances in his debut season, alternating between wing and centre and crossing for six tries which included a double in the victor over Canterbury at Belmore Sports Ground.
He became a regular over the next two seasons, making 21 appearances in 1982 and then 14 in 1983 – these were mostly at centre, however on a number of occasions also started on the wing.
