The visitors posted the first points with a penalty conversion off the boot of Greg Alexander.
Penrith were in the first try [soon after] when they shifted the ball to the right and centre Graeme Bradley touched down near the corner.
Two penalty conversions to the Seagulls saw the home team reduce it to 6-4.
The Panthers were next to score when Alexander threw a cut out pass to an unmarked Alan McIndoe on the right flank to touch down. Alexander’s sideline conversion had just enough distance, and further extended the lead to 12-4.
Leading by 8 at half time, Penrith further pushed ahead when another penalty conversion from Alexander made it 14-4.
The first try of the second half followed soon after, starting deep in the Panthers half, with Bradley making a break down the right edge and chipping back in field over the cover defence, with the ball then picked up by McIndoe around 10 metres out and whilst he slowed down to take the right bounce, still had time to gather it and then touch down under the black dot.
A third penalty conversion from Alexander made it 22-4, and the Panthers finished the scoring when Brad Fittler stepped his way around the defence and passed back inside to Alexander in support and touched down.
