The Raiders scored first to lead 6-0 before the Panthers struck back after 26 minutes when Charlie Staines took a Stephen Crichton flick pass and slid over in the right corner untouched.

The Panthers struck the lead when Matt Burton took a Jarome Luai pass and stepped around his opposite number at the same time he took the pass to break the line and sprint over the line.

The home team would head into the sheds at half time up 18-6 when with seconds remaining Luai followed through a well-timed grubber off his own boot into the in goal and grounded it just before it went dead.

Canberra was the first to score in the second half with an unconverted try on the hour mark to make it 18-10.

But the Panthers would further extend their lead when Staines crossed for a double, stepping back inside close to the line to cross over again untouched.

The premiership points were secured only minutes from the end when Nathan Cleary took an intercept and ran 70 metres to score under the black dot.
