The Steelers led 6-0 after 16 minutes, and the Panthers opened their account in the 23rd minute with a try to David Burnes when he sprinted through a gap 15 metres out from dummy half.
Five minutes later, the visitors had gained the lead through a try to fullback Mark Levy, and soon after Greg Alexander crossed over when he finished a 65-metre ball movement he started. Those two tries propelled Penrith to a 16-6 half time lead.
Ten minutes after the resumption, the Panthers surged further ahead through a second try to Alexander and soon followed up by forward Gary Howell.
Leading 24-6 heading into the final ten minutes, Penrith placed an exclamation mark on their dominant performance with two more tries to Levy to complete a hat trick.
