Norths posted the first points with a penalty conversion, but soon after quick hands trough a backline movement finished with Eddie Flahey scoring near the corner.
Whilst a second Bears penalty reduced it to 5-4, two tries in eight minutes, the first to Brad Izzard scored under the posts and then Lew Zivanovic scored to make it 13-4.
However, the visitors once again drew back Penrith’s lead to make it 13-11 at half time.
A second try to Zivanovic 10 minutes after the resumption, which was converted by Kevin Dann made it 18-11.
The team scoring sequence continued with Norths posting a converted try to make it 18-16 heading into the final quarter of the match, but the contest was sealed with just over five minutes remaining when a Tim Sheens bust resulted in a try to replacement winger Kevin Pobjie.
