The Rabbitohs were the first to score to lead 4-0.

But two tries in four minutes propelled Penrith into an eight-point lead – the first to winger Junior Tia Kilifi in the tenth minute and then to Wade Graham in in the fourteenth minute when he ran off a Frank Pritchard offload.

Whilst Souths struck back with a converted try to pull it back to 14-10, the home team had the final say in the half when Tia Kilifi took a 20-metre cut out pass from Graham crossed for his second to make it 18-10.

When Paul Aiton burrowed over frm dummy half in the 49th minute, the Panthers looked home and hosed up by more than two converted tries, and three more tries in a ten minute period to Michael Gordon, Brad Tighe and Michael Jennings blew out the full time score.
