The home team opened the scoring with a penalty conversion.
In the seventh minute, Shane Elford picked up a loose pass from the Sharks and ran 75 metres to score under the posts, with Michael Gordon’s conversion making it 6-2.
Whilst Cronulla would soon after hit the lead with a converted try, but the visitors regained the lead on 21 minutes when Michael Jennings won the race to a well weighted Lachlan Coote grubber kick.
Two more quick fire tries to secure doubles for both Elford and Jennings ensured that the Panthers held a commanding 22-8 lead at half time.
Soon after the resumption, Penrith further extended their lead to 28-8 when Jennings crossed for a hat trick.
Whilst the Sharks struck back with a converted try to reduce it to a 14 point deficit, the Panthers always had full control of the contest and a final minute try to Masada Iosefa, where he dived over from close range, put a full stop on proceedings.
