Colyton junior who made his first grade debut for Penrith in 1984, coming on as a replacement in their victory over Western Suburbs at Penrith Park.
Opportunities would be limited over the next few seasons, stringing together just a total of six first grade appearances over four seasons, with three of those as a starter in either the back or front row. His final match for the Panthers was the victorious 1987 reserve grade grand final.
He signed with newcomers Newcastle for the 1988 season – across 13 seasons he would make 229 appearances, retiring at the end of the 2000 season with at the time the most number of matches played for the Knights, and emerged as a major advocate for players rights when he became president of the Rugby League Players Association.
