Monday 18th May at Brookvale Oval
Penrith 11 – Tries: Simmons (1), Watene-Zelezniak (1); Goals: Moylan (1); Field goals: Moylan (1) | Manly 10
Manly were the first to post points to lead 6-0 inside the first five minutes but Penrith struck back in the 17th minute when a backline move found David Simmons on the edge benefited from a two on one to stroll over in the corner. The conversion was unsuccessful and the home team held a 2 point lead.
Another Manly try saw them push forward to a 10-4 lead at half time.
In the 54th minute Jamie Soward ran at the line and found Sika Manu to his right who then spotted an unmarked Dallin Watene-Zelezniak literally on the line and simply only had to ground it for the try. Matt Moylan was once again unable to successfully convert it and the Sea Eagles once again led by only 2.
The Panthers locked it up with just less than 8 minutes remaining with a penalty conversion, and then on the next set from the restart Moylan kicked a field goal from just under 40 metres out to see Penrith lead for the first time.
Manly had a number of opportunities to either force it to golden point or win it outright but the Panthers held on for a win by the barest of margins.
