Josh Mansour posted the first points when he was able to pull in a Jamie Soward grubber kick before it went dead and grounded it inside the dead ball line, with Soward’s conversion giving the home team a 6-0 lead inside the opening five minutes.
In the 23rd minute James Segeyaro dummied close to the line and burrowed over with the conversion doubling Penrith’s lead.
A penalty conversion further pushed it out to 14-0 and just after the half hour mark Peter Wallace put through a mid field chip kick that was spilt by Parramatta and picked up by Elijah Taylor – a chain of passes found Tyrone Peachey who went on a 25 metre angled run to cross in the corner. Soward was unable to land the conversion with the Panthers holding an 18-0 half time lead.
Nine minutes into the second half, Peachey busted a tackle on the halfway line and threaded through the Eels, stepping around the winger and bagging a double.
When Isaah Yeo soon after powered his way over the line at close range, the home team were up 30-0 with just a tick under 20 minutes remaining.
Parramatta scored two quick fire converted tries to make it 30-12, however, Penrith would have the final say in the contest, firstly with a second try to Mansour when he caught a bomb and simply fell over the line with five minutes remaining and with 90 seconds remaining Soward sliced through the line 30 metres out and scored on almost the same blade of grass to post a comprehensive 26 point victory in the local derby.
