A part of the third generation of the Cartwright family at Penrith, the son of former club captain John and grandson of Merv.

He was a Warragamba junior who played Under 20s with the Gold Coast Titans and was signed by the Panthers for the 2017 season. He was a part of the NSW Cup premiership winning team that season, playing mostly in the centres before having an injury interrupted 2018 season.

In 2019, he was named in the 30 man NRL squad and in Round 17 made his NRL debut against the Titans, coming off the bench. It would be his solitary appearance, returning to the NSW Cup the following week and soon after suffering a season ending shoulder injury.

Although part of the 2020 squad, he was not able to add to his NRL appearances for the Panthers, and was granted a mid-season release to South Sydney, where he has made 15 appearances to the end of 2022 and currently contracted to the end of the 2023 season.
