Canterbury junior who debuted with the Bulldogs in 2008. After a stint in England with a number of clubs and representing Australia in Rugby Union Sevens, he returned to the NRL with Manly in 2016. After three seasons with the Sea Eagles, he was released and signed with the Panthers.

Starting the season in the NSW Cup, he earned a call up to the NRL making his club debut in the second round versus the Knights in Newcastle, coming off the bench and scoring a try in their two-point win.

Winterstein would start as a second rower in eleven more matches before being dropped to the NSW Cup in August. He was not been able to make a return to the top 17 in the closing rounds and was released at the end of the season.
