New Zealand born half who Under 20s for the Wests Tigers and the Junior Kiwis before being signed by the Panthers for the 2016 season.
Martin made his NRL debut against Brisbane in Round 3, starting at five-eighth – he crossed for a try and then kicked the match winning field goal in their 23-22 victory. After six appearances, he suffered a shoulder injury that saw him sit out the remainder of the NRL season. However, he would return in the off-season, and make his Test debut for New Zealand in the Four Nations series.
After starting 2017 in the halves, he was dropped to the NSW Cup after seven rounds.
Soon after, he was granted a mid-season release and was signed by North Queensland and would soon after be a part of the Cowboys team as they finished runners up to the Storm in the grand final.
In mid-2019, he sustained a head injury that resulted in bleeding to the brain. In early 2020, after not being able to gain a medical clearance, he announced his retirement at the age of 24. However, he has since made a significant recovery, and earned a NRL contract for Brisbane in 2022. After a successful return, he was signed for the New Zealand Warriors for the 2023 season.
