Tall centre who made his NRL debut with Canterbury in 2009, where he represented New South Wales in 2010 and Australia in 2011 before moving to the Gold Coast Titans in 2012.

He arrived at Penrith as a signing on the eve of the 2014 season after being released by the Titans. After missing the opening match, he made his club debut in Round 2, starting in the centres. Idris would make 9 appearances before being stood down to seek help with personal issues. He would return weeks later, firstly through the NSW Cup and play the remaining 13 matches, including the two Panthers finals matches, all at centre, and crossing for four tries.

He would play the first six matches of the 2015 season, which included a hat trick of tries in the second round match against his former side Gold Coast and starting in the second row weeks later against North Queensland. In his sixth appearance, he suffered a season ending knee injury.

He would be released on compassionate grounds at the end of the 2015 season, and took a break from rugby league but would in 2016 play the Group 3 competition with the Wingham Tigers. He made a return to the NRL in 2017, signing a one year deal with the Wests Tigers. After just five matches, he suffered another season ending knee injury and at the end of the season would announce his retirement at the age of 27.
