After only three minutes the Panthers were the first to score when Nathan Cleary ran a dummy close to the Roosters line and stretched out to plant the ball on the white stripe.
However the Roosters would soon after strike back to have it tied up at 6 apiece inside the opening 10 minutes.
On 24 minutes, Tyrone Peachey finished a backline movement by slicing through the Roosters defence to score in the corner and then ten minutes later Chris Grevsmuhl hit and spun his way through the defensive line to barge over, with Cleary’s third conversion giving the home team a 12 point lead heading into half time.
Soon after the resumption of play, Bryce Cartwright scored what was almost a carbon copy of Cleary’s first half try to push it out to 22-6, and before the 50 minute mark it would be 28-6 when Cleary converted a Waqa Blake try in which he was able to power his way to the line despite the attention of at least three Roosters defenders.
Four minutes later, Penrith put on the razzle dazzle when a perfectly weighted and directed cross field kick from Cleary found Peachey on the left flank and he scored in the corner untouched.
It became 38-6 after just 60 minutes when Isaah Yeo ran from dummy half 45 metres out and found open space and broke the line to score under the uprights.
It would be the last points the Panthers would post, with two Roosters tries in the last 12 minutes doing nothing but reducing the home team’s winning margin.
