Penrith scored the first try when Luke Rooney scored in the corner in the opening minutes to hold a 4-0 lead.

The visitors would soon reply with a try of their own to tie it up at 4-all.

The Panthers would pile on three more tries in the final 12 minutes of the half, starting with Danny Galea scored off a move that had some initial concerns of obstruction before being over turned by the video referee. Soon after, Amos Roberts took advantage of a Rooney line break to cross under the posts and then Preston Campbell evaded the Raiders defence to score a four pointer for the home team to hold a 22-4 lead at half time.

Nine minutes after the resumption, Roberts was able to handle a lucky bounce from a Craig Gower kick who passed back inside to Luke Lewis.

A three try burst in a six minute period midway through the second half with tries to Shane Rodney and doubles to Roberts and Galea had the red hot Panthers hold an unassailable 42-4 lead.

A late consolation try to Canberra made the final score 42-8.
