The home team opened the scoring after just 4 minutes when Henry Foster, and a try soon after to Graeme Jennings and penalty conversion to Brett Lobb saw Penrith hold a 14-0 lead after only 12 minutes.

However, the Raiders would respond with three tries of their own to hold an 18-14 lead at half time.

But two more tries to Jennings to complete a hat trick midway through the second half saw the Panthers surge into the lead again at 26-18.

Canberra would not lie down though and reduced it to a 2 point lead with 15 minutes remaining.

The Panthers had a number of chances to further extend their lead, with the only other points being another penalty conversion to Lobb to push it out to 28-24.
