The home team opened the scoring after 20 minutes with a try to Wayne Peckham. It was the first of four, including a second to Peckham, and all of them converted as the flurry of points saw the Panthers hold a 20-2 lead at half time.
The visitors were able to contain Penrith in the second half, restricting them to a solitary penalty conversion, however, the Sharks were themselves also contained, scoring the only try of the half with only minutes remaining.
