WINS| [2008] Round 19: Penrith 36 Gold Coast Titans 22

Saturday 19th July at Skilled Stadium

Penrith 36 – Tries: Gordon (2), Pritchard (2), Jennings (1), Wesser (1); Goals: Gordon (6) | Gold Coast Titans 22

The Panthers opened the scoring when Michael Gordon crossed and converted his own try to lead 6-0.

The home team soon struck back with an unconverted try to trail by 2 and followed it up with another try to lead 10-6.

However, the visitors soon struck back with a try to Frank Pritchard to tie it up at 10-all, and Gordon’s conversion edged them ahead 12-10. The Panthers pulled further ahead with a try to Michael Jennings and held an 18-10 lead at half time.

Soon after the restart, a Titans converted try reduced the Panthers lead to just 2, but once again Penrith pulled ahead with a second try to Michael Gordon, with his conversion giving them a 24-16 lead.

A try to Rhys Wesser and then a penalty conversion gave Penrith a 30-16 lead, but the Gold Coast would at least keep Penrith honest by countering with another try to reduce it to 30-22.

But the Panthers would have the final say with a second try to Pritchard, and the visitors winning 36-22.
