Former Dally M Rookie of the Year who had debuted at Newcastle in 1990 and later had stints at the Western Reds, St. George and then St. George Illawarra before arriving at Penrith for the 2000 season.
Recruited as a halfback, he secured the number 7 jersey in his first season at the Panthers. Making 26 appearances, Rodwell played a major role in Penrith’s return to finals football for the first time in three years.
He played 18 matches in 2001, shifting to five-eighth towards the end of the season. Eyeing retirement, he was lured to England for one final season, captaining Warrington before retirement at the end of the 2002 season.
Post retirement, he led the Rugby League Players Association until 2009 and more recently has been a part of the rugby league media, mostly on the radio.
