Second rower who debuted for Penrith in the opening round of the 1976 season. Playing all 22 matches that season, quickly became known for his high work rate as a defender but would also be the club’s top try scorer that year, crossing for 10 tries. He would later in the season be selected for a Sydney Combined side that toured New Zealand.
However, the try scoring would dry up in future seasons. King would once again play every match in the 1977 season but would only make 11 appearances over the next two seasons before finishing up at Penrith at the end of the 1979 season.
King would later become the father in law of Greg Alexander.
