After 44 minutes, hooker Luke Priddis burrowed over from dummy half and with the conversion had Penrith ahead 16-10.

Seven minutes later, Girdler toed ahead a tap down from Luke Rooney after he caught a Craig Gower bomb on the last tackle and fell on the ball in the in-goal, with his conversion pushing it ahead to 22-10.
